IEPa, the taste of Amsterdam!
We have brewed a special beer, IEPa, especially for the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam. Amsterdam has more trees than people. With over a million trees, of which more than 75,000 are elms, we are the elm capital of the world. The elm is weatherproof and vandal-proof. A real tree for the vibrant city life. The name IEPa is a play of words with IEP, the dutch word for Elm and IPA.
Samaras
In the spring, the streets and canals of Amsterdam are covered in the blossom of the elm, also known as spring snow or iependubbeltjesregen (dime rain). A natural phenomenon that occurs nowhere else in the world.
Elm seed beer
We have carefully collected this elm seed and brewed it into beer. The seed of the city has a nutty flavour that combines wonderfully with the notes of hops and toasted rye. The use of this local ingredient and this unique combination of flavours perfectly matches the sustainable character of Brouwerij Homeland.
